Rangers transfer news: Malik Tillman return still on the cards after Bayern Munich scrap contract terms
Rangers could still get Malik Tillman back at Ibrox next season despite Bayern Munich deciding to “reject” the purchase option in his loan deal, according to Kicker.
The American was a success in Glasgow this year as he registered 12 goals and five assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in the process.
The Light Blues had an option in the deal to sign him permanently for between £5million and £6million, with the decision thought to be down to the player who has been cagey over his next move.

However, the latest report from Kicker claims the German giants have taken the previously agreed mechanism off the table, yet it “doesn’t have to mean that Tillman doesn’t end up back in Glasgow” as the situation remains “completely open” over a return.
If the Light Blues want him back they are said to need to increase their offer.
Moving the goalposts
Unless the window within which the purchase option had to be completed has now expired it would mean the agreement Rangers thought they had with Bayern wasn’t worth the paper it was written on if the Bundesliga champions could unilaterally reject it.
Michael Beale would no doubt like Tillman back after he played a central role this season, but with questions swirling throughout the last few months as to whether even £5million was a price he could afford when he had so much work to do in the market this may end his chances of a permanent deal.
Interest from Brighton and Brentford in the Premier League [Daily Mail, 12 June] might have made it moot either way if Tillman is minded to test himself at the top level.

But, unless some fairly lucrative sales are made in the coming weeks it would appear to make it prohibitive for Beale to even try to convince the youngster to come back if he is needing to shell out the best part of £10million.
While it appears that Bayern are still very prepared to do business, it may be in question whether Rangers are, as they are surely not going to be overjoyed by the fact of the terms being changed, if that is what has happened.
Beale has already landed Kieran Dowell as a midfield arrival and Sam Lammers as a striker, while January signing Todd Cantwell came into his own in attacking midfield after Tillman’s season was ended by injury.
But to mount a real title push next season he will want as much firepower as he can muster, so whether he retains hope of getting the American back in the fold remains to be seen.
In other Rangers news, a transfer recruit whom the club are thought to be leading the race for has been backed to be a success in Scotland.
