Ianis Hagi may now be told to empty Rangers locker as transfer news emerges
Rangers are reportedly ready to sell Ianis Hagi this summer despite only awarding him a new Ibrox deal in December, and the Romanian may now be told to empty his Aucenhowie locker.
The arrival of Atalanta forward Sam Lammers could now pose another obstacle for the Romanian to overcome in his quest for regular first-team football at Ibrox, with Rangers announcing his transfer on Thursday [17 June]
Hagi has endured a tough year or so at Rangers, previously sidelined with a serious knee injury but still offered a new contract until 2026, could be on his way out of Ibrox with the club now willing to consider offers for his services.

According to the Scottish Mail on Sunday [11 June], Hagi may well be handed a chance to impress in pre-season but Rangers’ recent attacking signings may well push him out the Ibrox door.
“Hagi only signed a new contract in December but has struggled for game time since recuperating from a knee injury,” the Scottish Mail on Sunday wrote. [11 June, pages 100 and 101]
“Currently on international duty with Romania, he will be given a chance to impress in pre-season but is in need of game time that the arrival of Lammers may restrict.”
During their title-winning campaign, the playmaker certainly emerged as a swift household favourite at Ibrox registering 18 goal contributions (seven goals and 11 assists) while creating six big chances and making one key pass per game.
The 24-year-old is an excellent and incredibly gifted footballer when fit and firing, and may well have propelled himself to become a vital figure under Beale moving forward.
However, the signings of Kieran Dowell and Lammers, who play in a similar position to Hagi, also compounded by the recent form of Todd Cantwell may indeed restrict Hagi’s game time at Ibrox which is a huge shame for his development.
Whether Hagi can completely change Beale’s mind during pre-season is another matter entirely, given he has to challenge three of players for his position now.

For a player as gifted as he is when fit, he’s simply too good to be sitting on the bench which certainly doesn’t aid a player of his age and class.
The Romanian international is a player who needs to be playing every week, and Beale certainly recognises that hence this latest development regarding his Ibrox future. It remains up to Hagi whether he sees his immediate future sitting on the bench at Ibrox or flourishing as a key performer elsewhere.
Certainly, Hagi has plenty to offer given his unique qualities in the final third and the ball remains in his court for the time being with a major decision to make on where his future lies but Rangers have provided him with a major hint as to how they picture his contribution to Beale’s new Ibrox revolution.
In other Rangers news, one exit-bound Gers player is wanted across the world in an ‘exceptionally shrewd’ deal, according to Sky Sports.
