Rangers transfer latest as triple signing update provided by Heart and Hand

Rangers are said to be closing in on the triple signing of Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Jose Cifuentes with at least one to be confirmed by the weekend, according to an update from David Edgar on the Heart & Hand podcast Twitter account.

The latest information from the prominent fan media outlet will cool expectations of an imminent announcement from Ibrox on the latest arrivals as part of Michael Beale’s mass rebuild of the squad.

The manager has already secured Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland for the 2023/24 campaign, with several more deals to be made, for players in and out, in the coming weeks.

On Thursday afternoon, Edgar provided the following information on the latest signing targets for the Gers.

“Lammers should be done officially by weekend. Dessers still a bit to go but hopefully next week. Talks progressing with Cifuentes,” he said.

“That’s all I have before you start asking me about anyone else.”

Delay

It would appear that Rangers have hit a couple of bumps in the road on the way to securing these players, but that is because their names have been in the public domain for what feels like so long.

The truth is, with every single update pored over and analysed, it can take longer and especially with complications like relegated clubs such as Cremonese looking to protect themselves as much as possible, or perhaps more info is required, post-Brexit, for bringing players to the UK.

On the outside, we don’t know everything that goes on but the club will be keen to close these deals sooner rather than later and it does appear that Lammers will be the next signing, even if a delay has held things up a bit longer than expected.

With around two weeks to go until the squad arrives back at Auchenhowie for pre-season training, the transfer activity is only going to intensify from this point onward.
