Rangers news as John Bennett investment twist emerges from Chris Jack

Chris Jack has insisted that John Bennett will try his best to provide suitable answers should more Rangers transfer funds be demanded this summer.

The Herald journalist has reported that Ross Wilson or Giovanni van Bronckhorst did not demand more money after Champions League qualification last season, something that is on the cards again at Ibrox.

With that, it is suggested that Michael Beale could ask for more funds as the Bears get rid of millions on their wage bill with the exits of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos among others.

Writing in his latest piece for The Herald on Thursday 14 June, Jack shared what could happen later in the window should more funds be needed.

“He encapsulates the dynamism that Rangers were looking for and the departures of Stewart Robertson, Andrew Dickson and Ross Wilson come at a time of significant change on the park as Beale rebuilds a squad that had around £15million spent on it twelve months ago,” he wrote.

“Further investment was not asked for by Wilson or Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the aftermath of Champions League qualification.

“If the question is put to the board this time, Bennett will do his best to provide Beale with a suitable answer as Rangers shave millions off the wage bill and then reinvest to raise the spend once again.”

Rangers

Boost.

It will be interesting to see how the window ends, even though it has literally just opened.

Rangers have already confirmed three new signings at no cost, although Sam Lammers is set to become the fourth for around £3million from Atalanta.

After moving early, it could be a quiet end to the window, but with qualification for the Champions League on the line, should that be secured, more money could be demanded and spent.

Rangers were simply embarrassed last season upon their return to the competition, so there will be no resting on the squad that could get them there this time around.

Bennett will have learned that when watching on last season under Douglas Park, and with money made through getting rid of wages, it is there to spend.

Although the window has just started, it will be interesting to see how it ends with the business set to be concluded likely before the start of pre-season.
