Rangers locked in talks with key stakeholders and Scottish FA after latest announcement

Rangers are now locked in talks with key stakeholders, including the Scottish FA, about mapping the “best possible” direction for its young players.

The talks come after the Gers announced on Wednesday (14 June) that they would not be entering a B team in the Scottish Lowland Football League.

That decision, which takes effect from the 2023/24 season, came after the Scottish FA decided to withdraw a vote on the proposed introduction of a Conference League at tier five in Scottish football.

“As matters now stand, there is no suitable, governing body-led development structure for players between 18-21 in Scotland,” according to the official Rangers website.

“The club has, however, enjoyed positive dialogue with a number of key stakeholders in recent days, including the Scottish FA, and looks forward to continuing such discussions to map the best possible direction for the development of the country’s top young players.”

Mixed news

The latest developments at Ibrox provide mixed news for the young players at the club, who will no doubt be disappointed first and foremost at not being able to play in the Lowland League next season.

The club feel the introduction of a Conference League is the best possible way that their young players, and indeed the young players of other clubs across Scotland, can develop, but that view is clearly not shared by those pulling the strings.

But there is positive news, with Rangers currently involved in talks with the relevant parties about finding a favourable outcome.

Rangers B had enjoyed healthy competition in the Lowland League in the last two seasons, but the Gers obviously now want things to move in a new direction.

Hopefully the positive dialogue can continue in the coming weeks and top-class football can be found for Scotland’s future stars, with the future of the Scotland national team also at stake.

In other Rangers news, one exit-bound Gers player is wanted across the world in an ‘exceptionally shrewd’ deal, according to Sky Sports.
