Rangers boss Michael Beale reveals background on Sam Lammers signing
Rangers have confirmed the signing of Sam Lammers from Atalanta, with manager Michael Beale revealing he was the first player he met as part of his squad rebuild plans, as told to the club’s official website.
The Dutchman becomes the fourth signing for Beale, following on from the acquisitions of Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland, ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Lammers reiterated that he is “excited” for the new campaign at Ibrox, having spoken at length with Beale on their mutual admiration

After securing the 26-year-old on a four-year deal, the manager revealed the background work that was conducted on the player.
“Sam will give us great technical and tactical quality, being able to play in a variety of attacking positions as a number 10 or nine,” he said.
“He was the first player I met with as part of the planning for the new season and during our lengthy discussions, it was clear that we share the same ideas on football and on his personal development moving forward.
“He has a strong alignment to the other players in our squad.”

Progress
Beale has expressed his satisfaction at the early business that he has conducted and it augurs well for a strong start to pre-season.
Too often, previously, Rangers have left it late for one reason or another, into the final weeks of the transfer window to get the serious transfer business done but that won’t be the case this time around.
Four players have been signed already with Cyriel Dessers and Jose Cifuentes said to be not far behind, so it provides a very encouraging signal to the supporters that the team will be ready to hit the ground running for the start of the Premiership season and the Champions League qualifiers that commence in August.
Lammers will have to meet the pressure and expectation to produce the required numbers up front for Rangers but that is a task that he should relish.
He won’t be the only arrival in attack, in what will be a fresh front line at Ibrox in the weeks and months ahead.
