Sky Sports: ‘Exceptionally shrewd signing’ verdict shared on outgoing Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos, has ‘many admirers’

Outgoing Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos would be an “exceptionally shrewd signing” for his next club, according to Sky Sports.

The Colombian international has left Ibrox after his contract expired in May, having spent six years at the club.

The striker scored 124 goals in his 269 appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit.

“El Bufalo is roaming to pastures new – where that will be is of great interest to many,” according to Sky Sports.

“Lots has been made of Alfredo Morelos’ uncompromising style but his goalscoring record, especially in European competitions, has earned him many admirers across the world.

“Long linked with a move abroad, a club will take a punt on trying to get the best out of the Colombian. It could be an exceptionally shrewd signing.”

Fond memories

Morelos was seemingly always in the headlines during his six-year spell at Ibrox, both for his goalscoring abilities and his short temper.

Opponents did their best to wind the South American up as much as possible, and they often succeeded, with Morelos shown plenty of yellow and red cards as he let his temper get the better of him.

But still, Gers supporters will remember Morelos for all the right reasons, with the striker leaving as the club’s all-time top goalscorer in European competitions.

He is only 26, and therefore still has plenty of years left, but of course he must strike the right balance between aggression and losing his temper if he is to continue shining elsewhere.

The striker cannot let defenders get in his head, with a much better strategy involving Morelos doing his talking by hitting the back of the net.

Even with his troublesome character, he leaves Ibrox on a free transfer, and therefore would indeed represent a shrewd bit of business for whoever is willing to take a gamble on him.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have now made an approach to sign one Englishman as their transfer blitz continues, according to Fabrizio Romano.
