Sam Lammers Rangers transfer praised by European boss, as ‘very clever’ transfer emerges

Heerenveen boss Kees van Wonderen has praised Sam Lammers as Rangers close in on a move for the Atalanta striker.

Tutto Atalanta reported on 13 June that the 26-year-old is expected in Glasgow on Wednesday to complete his medical ahead of a £3m transfer.

Talking to the Daily Record on Wednesday 14 June, van Wonderen was full of praise for the Dutch striker.

Rangers

“What you get from him as a player is first and foremost a superb work ethic. He’s a left-footed striker and is good technically,” he said.

“He’s a player who has an eye on the tactical aspects of the game, he appreciates how the game is played, where the spaces are and how to deal with circumstances on the pitch.

“He knows how to play an opponent and is a very clever guy

“I can see him being a big success in Scotland. Rangers have signed a quality player who can make a big impact.”

Back Beale

We have to trust Beale’s judgment on this one. Lammers has struggled since making the move to Atalanta. However, he was one of the more highly thought of talents in Holland.

This could prove to be an astute piece of business from the board. He could be picked up for a cut price and prove to be a hit in Scotland. The Serie A is certainly more challenging than the Scottish Premiership – so there’s no reason why the striker cannot adapt to life in his new surroundings.

Rangers fans will be delighted with the start Beale has made on the transfer front. The Gers have landed a number of top-quality free agents and are now looking to utilise the market. With Alfredo Morelos leaving and Antonio Colak’s future up in the air, there’s certainly room for two more forwards.

Lammers could well be joined by Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers. The Nigerian is reportedly close to sealing a move to Ibrox after his side’s relegation from Serie A.
