Rangers transfer news: Glen Kamara exit on the cards amid ‘rare’ sign that ‘he’s away’

Glen Kamara is “away” from Rangers spoke publicly about his time at Ibrox in the past tense, in the view of Euan Robertson.

The 27-year-old has been tipped as a possible departure this summer as Michael Beale overhauls his squad, having become a back-up option under the Gers boss as this season went on.

Speaking to the Pallokerho podcast (12 June) he referred having “had a really good time” at the club while offering a “no comment” to the suggestion that he’s moving, and with the manager previously admitting he could be sold [Daily Record, 1 June] Robertson thinks it is almost certain.

Discussing the midfielder’s comments on the Rangers Review YouTube channel (13 June, 14m 50s) Robertson said: “Yeah, he’s away isn’t he… He’s speaking in the past tense. It’s very telling, and it’s very rare that Glen Kamara talks as well, he’s not one who does regular interviews.”

Chris Jack reported in the Glasgow Times on Monday that a £5million asking price has been put on the former Dundee man, and Beale is ready to let him go.

Onward

At the Rangers end it looks pretty clear so the key question will be whether the requisite offers arrive on the table to make Kamara’s exit worthwhile.

Beale could certainly use the cash for his summer transfer moves, likely more than he could use a player who only featured for 107 minutes combined over the final 12 SPFL fixtures.

He only cost £50,000 from Dundee four seasons ago so anything is going to represent profit on the books, but while interest has been mooted from at least three different sources it remains to be seen whether the right money is put up.

Rangers

Should the Finn go this summer it will be the latest signal that this team is truly entering a new era, with key men from the recent trophy wins already gone in the form of Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander.

Kamara’s goal in the victory over RB Leipzig in the Europa League semi final the season before last will live long in the memory.

But from his and his manager’s public words it doesn’t sounds like he will get the opportunity to add any more.

In other Rangers news, a “fast” update has emerged on a potential third striker signing at Ibrox this summer.
