Michael Beale urged to create ‘very different’ Rangers landscape amid Brendan Rodgers and Celtic news

Michael Beale has been urged to create a “very different” landscape at Rangers ahead of a potential return to Celtic for Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman is in advanced talks with the vacant managerial position at his former club, according to Sky Sports.

And noting the manager’s success in the Old Firm derby, Daily Record journalist Mark Pirie has suggested that Beale should already be preparing for the fixture if Rodgers is appointed.

“There is a feeling of deja vu as Brendan Rodgers prepares to step into the Celtic dugout once again,” Pirie wrote for the Daily Record.

“But Rangers boss Michael Beale will be hoping he can create a very different landscape for the boss should he arrive at Celtic Park.

“Rodgers enjoyed an impressive record in the derby as he lost just one of his 13 derby games before bowing out and moving south of the border to Leicester City – as well as claiming seven pieces of silverware during his stint in the Scottish Premiership.”

Top manager

There is no denying that Rodgers is a top, top manager, even if he has come under fire in the last couple of months for his failures at Leicester City, who have just been relegated from the Premier League.

The boss won pretty much all there was to be won at Celtic, apart from European success, of course, which is a near-impossible task given the club’s budget in comparison to those lifting the trophies.

He did, however, leave Celtic Park for Leicester in acrimonious circumstances, with many fans of the former club annoyed at their beloved manager for moving on.

It’s a very similar situation to Ange Postecoglou, who has only just recently left Celtic Park to join Premier League giants Tottenham.

But the same supporters should be welcoming Rodgers back to the east end of Glasgow in a heartbeat, with not many other managers knowing the club and the fans better than the Northern Irishman.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have now made an approach to sign one Englishman as their transfer blitz continues, according to Fabrizio Romano.
