John Souttar injury news for Rangers as Scotland medics need to give green light
John Souttar has reported to the Scotland camp with an injury concern, ahead of their Euro 2024 qualification double header against Norway and Georgia, as reported by the Glasgow Times.
With just over two weeks until Michael Beale’s Rangers squad assembles for the start of pre-season training, the injury will cast familiar fears on his condition at a crucial time.
Souttar will be assessed by Steve Clarke’s medical staff before a decision is made on whether or not he can feature in the games in the coming days, in Oslo on Saturday then at Hampden Park on Tuesday.

The Times report stated that the central defender could yet be set to take his place in the team but that all depends on the assessment of his condition.
“John Souttar could play a part in Scotland’s Euro qualifying double header against Norway and Georgia after reporting for Steve Clarke’s squad last night,” it said.
“Injury fears had been surrounding the Rangers defender and he missed last week’s training camp due to the knock.
“Souttar returned to the Scotland set-up last night though and he will now be assessed by the international medical team who could give him the green light for Norway away this weekend.”

Ready or not?
After a strong finish to last season when Souttar clearly demonstrated his ability for Rangers, this latest setback will cause some unease, understandably.
Hopefully, it will soon become clear if it is just a knock or something more substantial which threatens to undermine his build-up to the new campaign in which he has the opportunity to claim a spot for himself at Ibrox. Will he be ready or not?
Clarity will be provided on his current situation, imminently.
With Connor Goldson recovering from his injury, it will give Beale plenty to consider. In the coming weeks, at least one new central defender will arrive, possibly two, although Dujon Sterling can provide cover in the middle.
Other than that, it just leaves Ben Davies and Leon King as things stand.
The heart of the defence is an area that Rangers must strengthen significantly if a serious challenge for the title is to be made in the coming months.
