Bayern Munich £10m Malik Tillman Rangers buy-back agreement could rise

Malik Tillman’s £10million buy-back option makes him an unattractive proposition for Rangers, according to Rangers Review.

It’s believed the American is available for £5million with the Gers holding an agreement with Bayern Munich over the 21-year-old (Rangers Review, 14 June).

However, no agreement over a return to Tillman is close with Brentford and Brighton both holding an interest. It’s believed the club wouldn’t view the midfielder as a player to develop or sell, with Bayern likely to activate their buy-back option if he performs well.

It’s believed the option is a flat fee but could increase “incrementally” for every season he remains at Ibrox – similar to Dani Carvajal’s agreement at Real Madrid.

Michael Beale is a “huge” fan of the midfielder and has made his desire for Tillman to return very clear.

Interesting

It’s certainly an interesting way of undertaking transfer dealings.

Bayern Munich almost allow other teams to do the dirty work for them before making a decision on some of their younger stars.

It’s probably why Rangers managed to land Tillman in the first place. It’s highly unlikely Bayern would have allowed the 21-year-old to depart for under the £10million mark, without a buy-back option.

And, after his season at Ibrox, his value would’ve only gone up further.

The fact that Brighton and Brentford are interested indicates that Rangers are doing something right. Both clubs have been praised for their transfer dealings in the past. If either club signed Tillman it would be no surprise to see him go on to be a success story.

For the Light Blues, it’s probably time to wave goodbye to the prospect of the American joining next season. It was a developmental period in the year gone by – nothing more.

In other Rangers news, the door is now open for the Gers to make a run at a third striker for nothing and things could “move fast”.
