Rangers transfer news: Besiktas to take action in pursuit of Ridvan Yilmaz next week
Besiktas management will make an official move to take Ridvan Yilmaz back from Rangers next week, according to a report from Fotomac (11 June).
Yilmaz joined from the Turkish club last summer in a deal worth around £3.5m, but he struggled with injuries in his debut campaign and found himself behind Borna Barisic in the pecking order.
That lack of minutes has seen Besiktas entertain the idea of taking him back to Istanbul, and the recruitment team are now planning to “officially take action” next week to make the deal happen.

“Although the 22-year-old player and his manager emphasized that he wanted to stay in Europe before, the black and white people are following the situation closely,” they wrote.
“Beşiktaş management will officially take action next week to hire Ridvan in case of favorable conditions.”
No chance
Yilmaz joined the club a year ago as a 21-year-old full international for Turkey with plenty of potential, and other than his age none of that has really changed.
He didn’t have the best debut season and there was clearly room for improvement in his game, but that can be expected from a young player in a new league and country.

But even apart from that, when Yilmaz did get a run in the team late on in the season he impressed and showed he is more than capable of being first-choice going forward.
Barisic is entering the final year of his deal and while he may yet stay beyond that, it would be silly of us to let Yilmaz go and give ourselves another area to strengthen in an already busy summer without him ever really getting a chance.
He wants to stay at the club and having spent heavily on him, we’d be crazy to let him go without giving the opportunity to prove himself at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, Premier League clubs are looking to hijack this deal to take a player to Ibrox.
