Michael Beale could reignite spark in Sam Lammers as Rangers close in on transfer
Rangers are edging closer to making another signing at Ibrox as one key Michael Beale target has medical scheduled in the next 48 hours in a £3.5m deal.
Rangers announced Jack Butland as the latest player to join the club with the English goalkeeper signing a four-year deal, joining Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling through the Ibrox doors as Michael Beale gets his squad revamp underway.
A Sky Sports update shared on Friday 9 June revealed the Gers are working on three more deals as Beale seeks to boost his attacking weaponry, following the departures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, with more talks planned for Cyriel Dessers, Jose Cifuentes and Sam Lammers.

And according to a new report shared on 11 June, Rangers are inching ever closer to their fourth deal of the summer already.
According to the Scottish Mail on Sunday, Lammers has a medical scheduled at Ibrox in the next 48 hours with a deal now given the “green light” on a £3.5m transfer, by Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini according to the Scottish Sun [11 June].
“Currently tied in Atalanta, Lammers is due in the UK for a medical in the next 48 hours and is set to be officially unveiled by the end of the week in a £3.5million deal,” the Scottish Mail on Sunday wrote. [11 June, pages 100 and 101]
The Dutchman has been on the Gers’ radar for several years and has been earmarked for the No.10 role at Ibrox, with Beale looking to bring more attacking spark and invention in the final third.
The Atalanta forward has been sent out on loan on a number of occasions over the past few seasons, and he was actually on the bench for Eintracht Frankfurt against Rangers during the Europa League final in the 2021-22 campaign.
However, the Dutchman has not been prolific in front of goal in recent times, registering just one league goal for Frankfurt during his time in Germany, while he also found the back of the net once for Sampdoria in his most recent loan spell, which may have brought many doubts about his quality from Rangers fans before completing a move.

In fact, Lammers hasn’t enjoyed a fruitful goalscoring spell since the 2018/19 campaign, where hit an impressive 19 goals for Heerenveen in all competitions, so the Light Blues’ pursuit of him as a replacement for Morelos is a little unusual.
However, given the profile of Beale’s signings so far, it is clear he hasn’t just stumbled on Lammers’ profile but this is a move with a very clear tactical thought in the offing.
If any manager can reignite the forward’s confidence in the final third and get him playing at his former best which was seen in 2019, then it is Beale who holds tremendous knowledge of Lammers but also possess such an expansive and attractive tactical philosophy at Ibrox which the Dutchman may well get a taste of some attacking freedom again.
A promising attacking component is very much on the cards at Ibrox one which may come as a major surprise to Rangers’ rivals next term.
After their treble success last season, Celtic may very well be quivering in their boots at the sight of Rangers’ flawless and productive business so far, especially given the Hoops haven’t even secured Ange Postecoglu’s replacement yet.
In other Rangers news, a current Ibrox ace “will leave” once one of the aforementioned deals is completed.
