Brighton and Brentford want to sign Malik Tillman as Bayern Munich want more than £5m agreed with Rangers

Rangers could be set to see their £5m deal to sign Malik Tillman from Bayern Munich collapse, with Premier League clubs set to pounce.

The Gers have a £5m option with the Bundesliga giants to turn Tillman’s loan permanent after an excellent campaign which saw him win two individuals awards.

But Bayern are considering cancelling the deal because Brentford and Brighton are interested, and they believe they can earn more by selling him there instead according to the Daily Mail (12 June).

Rangers

“Bayern Munich are ready to recall attacking midfielder Malik Tillman from his loan at Rangers amid interest from Premier League clubs,” they wrote.

“Rangers are understood to hold an option to sign him for £5m but Bayern believe they can get more with Brighton and Brentford among his admirers.”

Problem

Many fans have already given up hope of signing Tillman permanently because if it was going to happen then you’d have expected it to have happened already.

Tillman had a great season at Ibrox and Michael Beale made it clear that he wanted the American to be part of his squad next season.

However he returned to Munich at the end of the season and admitted that he needed to consider his options. Rangers are looking to add attackers to their squad, and deals are already being lined up.

If Beale is successful in bringing in Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers, adding to his deal for Kieran Dowell already, then there may not be space for Tillman anyway and it could be a sign of the fact the club are planning for life without him.

It would be a huge shame no doubt, because he’s been fantastic for us, but we can’t be roped into paying more than we had already agreed. Move on and grow without him.

In other Rangers news, an asking price has been set for one first-team ace with an exit expected in “coming weeks”.
