Rangers get boost in Lyndon Dykes transfer chase as Millwall cool interest with QPR waiting on offers

Rangers have been handed a boost in their pursuit of QPR striker Lyndon Dykes after Millwall cooled their interest in his signature, according to Darren Witcoop.

The Gers are keen to bolster their striker options this summer with Alfredo Morelos leaving on a free transfer, and Dykes has been a target since Michael Beale arrived after they worked together at QPR earlier in the 2022/23 season.

But according to journalist Witcoop, QPR are waiting on offers for the striker after contract talks stalled but Millwall won’t be making an offer after they completed the signing of Kevin Nisbet from Hibernian.

“QPR are waiting on offers for Lyndon Dykes this summer after contract talks stalled,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (10 June).

“Glasgow Rangers are keen on the Scotland striker while Blackburn have shown interest. Millwall were in the mix but are set to cool their interest after landing Kevin Nisbet.”

Push

Rangers are being linked with a hat-full of players right now and it seems quite obvious that they are working on a number of transfers at the same time to make sure Beale gets what he wants and needs during the window.

A striker is right at the top of the priorities, but there have been reports that Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers are close to signing and that would surely negate the need for Dykes to come in.

It’s possible that he was always a secondary target for Beale and the club just won’t look to close that deal, but if they’re smart they should go as far as they can with it while being open about the fact it may not happen.

The last thing Beale will want is for his other options to fall through and Dykes already be elsewhere, and there is a clear opening here for him to get a player in that he wants.

Rangers have moved quickly this summer with three deals already done and three on the brink, but Dykes is definitely one to keep an eye on.

In other Rangers news, the club are “open to offers” for two first-team players according to Sky Sports.
