Pundit shares ‘unbelievable’ Allan McGregor verdict amid Rangers transfer news
Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur believes it will be hard for Jack Butland to fill the boots of Allan McGregor at Rangers.
The legendary shot-stopper is one of five Gers players to leave Ibrox this summer upon the expiry of their contracts.
But manager Michael Beale has already filled the gap left by McGregor by signing Butland, who will join on July 1, as confirmed by the official Rangers website.

“Jack has played at the highest level so he’s got all the ability and the right character to be able to fill those boots – but obviously Greegsy is a hard person to replace,” McArthur told the Daily Record.
“Greesgy was unbelievable for Rangers and Scotland when I played with him. He was a great character but also a great keeper as well.”

Gers legend
McGregor will be sadly missed at Ibrox, with the experienced goalkeeper a huge hit both on and off the pitch. He spent several years at the club, winning several trophies and creating many fantastic memories for supporters.
But given his age, the 41-year-old was always destined to leave this summer, with manager Michael Beale wanting a much younger shot-stopper for the years to come.
And he has found that in 30-year-old Butland, who definitely has a difficult task in filling McGregor’s boots, but one that he is more than capable of.
It may take the former Crystal Palace man some time to settle into life at Ibrox, but his experience at club and international level means he is already equipped to deal with high-profile matches and the pressure that comes with playing for a club like Rangers.
It’s a huge season for Beale and his men, who know they have it all to do in order to close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic.
In other Rangers news, Chris Jack believes one Gers ace should have quit Ibrox after the 2021/22 Europa League final.
