Official Rangers partner reacts as BBC drops £2.5m transfer update on Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo

Heart and Hand believe that in Jonathan Panzo, Rangers will be getting a defender who’s talented but is prone to the occasional errors.

This comes after the BBC shared an update on Twitter that claimed Gers were close to securing a deal for the 22-year-old.

It’s understood that if the transfer goes ahead, it will be costing the Ibrox giants a fee worth £2.5million.

Via Twitter, the club’s official partner wrote, “Quite intrigued with this one. Looks a talented player with occasional brainfarts. Still developing but at £2.5m bought to play.”

Risky?

Panzo does not appear to be the most assured of signings so this is one to take with a grain of salt despite the reports.

Rangers have made the occasional transfer blunders and despite there being a change behind the scenes, it could continue.

If Panzo is arriving primarily to provide depth then it’s a move that makes sense as he’s probably not ready to a first-team regular.

He will not strengthen the side at centre-back, left-back or even central midfield but will be a decent utility player.

This could be why Michael Beale wants to bring him to the club as he would serve as a useful option in the second halves of games.

It remains to be seen if his arrival sparks the exit of any other first-team players as that will be on the cards as well.

In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
