BBC pundit thrilled as Rangers close in on multi-million Cyriel Dessers signing, ‘something special brewing’
BBC pundit Kenny Miller is thrilled that Michael Beale is targeting Cremonese striker Cyrial Dessers at Rangers this summer.
Corriere dello Sport reported on 8 June [page 15] that the Gers are on the verge of completing a £4.2million agreement for the 28-year-old forward, who netted six goals for the Serie A outfit last season.
Writing in his column for the Daily Record [11 June], Miller admitted that there’s “something special brewing” at Ibrox, with three new signings already through the doors and a multi-million move for Dessers edging ever closer.

“I like the look of Beale’s targets, like the Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers,” he wrote.
“So whoever Celtic get as Postecoglou’s replacement, it’s shaping up to be an incredible battle.
“It doesn’t matter who becomes Celtic’s next manager.
“They’ll be facing a different animal across the city next season. I genuinely believe that.
“There’s something special brewing at Rangers. And in terms of a title race? Even now, I can see it being one of the tightest ever.”

Strong steps taken
Although the season has only just drawn to a close, Rangers look prepared and ready to make moves in the summer transfer window.
The arrivals of Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland represent a strong start to the window, but the addition of Dessers might be the most exciting of the lot.
Rangers are in desperate need of attacking additions after the departures of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. The likes of Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak aren’t the worst options to have to call upon, but both have been susceptible to injury in the last 12 months – something Beale simply can’t risk if he wants to mount a challenge on the Scottish Premiership title.
Dessers could be the goalscorer that the Gers have been craving for over the last two years, and at £4.2million, would represent good value in today’s market.
After the departure of Postecolgou at Celtic, this transfer window is a brilliant opportunity to close the gap and help to claim back the Old Firm bragging rights next season.
