Rangers transfer news: Jose Cifuentes agrees personal terms for Ibrox move in ‘confident’ update amid delay

Jose Cifuentes has agreed personal terms over a move to Rangers and the club are “confident” it will be completed “very soon” according to the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old’s contract at LAFC is set to expire in December but the Light Blues are pushing to make him the latest in Michael Beale’s summer overhaul.

After wrapping up deals for Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland the Ecuador midfielder was expected to be next in line, but Sky Sports reported on Friday night (9 June) there is still a “significant” amount of work to be done to get the transfer over the line.

However, it appears that work will get done between the clubs as the 15-cap international has already given his green light to a contract offer and hopes are high of sealing the agreement.

The Daily Record report: “Rangers are also still in dialogue with Los Angeles FC over a deal for Jose Cifuentes. They are confident a deal will be closed very soon to see the Ecuadorian move to Glasgow.

“The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has agreed terms on a move to Rangers.”

Whatever is holding things up will no doubt be proving a frustration to Beale who has shot out of a cannon to start his summer transfer business and clearly wants to get as much done as possible early.

However, he does still have plenty of time on his hands, with the transfer window not even officially set to open for a few more days (14 June) and pre-season still some weeks away.

As long as he can bring in Cifuentes before the work at Auchenhowie begins he will likely be satisfied, assuming no rivals appear on the scene late and attempt to hijack the deal.

The LAFC man himself has been active on social media making quite plain that he wants the deal to get done, so it seems little surprise that he has already agreed his end of things.

As long as the clubs can work out a fee for a man with six months left on his contract, which shouldn’t be a huge amount, and the technicalities can be ironed out he should be at Ibrox sooner rather than later.

But at the moment it is not quite soon enough when the move has been anticipated so hotly for some weeks already.

In other Rangers news, a “serious incident” has left another “absolutely superb” mooted Gers signing up in the air.
