Rangers Jose Cifuentes transfer could hit rocks as ‘worrying possibility’ emerges
A “worrying possibility” has emerged as Rangers look to seal a deal for LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, according to Rangers Review.
The Daily Record reported on 10 June that personal terms have been agreed upon with the Ecuadorian and that discussions are taking place with the MLS side.
However, Rangers Review claim (10 June) – with a deal not imminent – there’s a genuine possibility that top five league club could come in and “tip the transfer on its head”.

Waiting game
With the Ecuadorian international being contracted to LAFC until the turn of the year – there are a few things that need to be ironed out. The Gers are right when it comes to negotiations. They shouldn’t be paying an extortionate fee for a player who is out of contract in just a matter of months’ time.
It’s a case of playing the waiting game. LAFC will eventually reach some sort of agreement. Of course, there will be concerns about another more affluent club coming in for the midfielder. If a deal cannot be struck soon, interest in the Ecuadorian will begin to emerge.

Michael Beale desperately needs to strengthen his midfield. With Glen Kamara likely to depart and Scott Arfield already on his way elsewhere, another box-to-box player is a requirement. Let’s hope there is some movement on the Cifuentes deal over the coming weeks. His arrival would cap what has been a successful start to the summer for the Gers.
In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
