Cyriel Dessers ‘desperately’ wants UK move as Rangers close in on £4.2m agreement

Cyriel Dessers “desperately” wants to move to a British club as Rangers look to conclude a deal for the Cremonese striker, according to Rangers Review.

According to Corriere dello Sport (page 15, 8 June), the Gers are on the verge of a £4.2million agreement for the 28-year-old striker.

Rangers Review now report on 10 June, that the Nigerian-born forward is eager to make a switch to a British club following Cremonese’s relegation from Serie A.

Experienced

Dessers is certainly an experienced addition for Michael Beale to utilise. He’s played in Holland and Italy and could thrive in the Scottish Premiership. Even for a struggling Cremonese side, he’s managed to hit the back of the net.

It’s encouraging to see Beale target a number of strikers already.

With Alfredo Morelos moving onto pastures new and Antonio Colak potentially on his way out, this is a move that makes a lot of sense. Morelos’ final season at Ibrox has left a sour taste but his goalscoring ability cannot be doubted.

With Dessers seemingly close to securing his move to Ibrox and Atlanta striker Sam Lammers also on the agenda, Rangers are making good progress.

Beale will be delighted with how the early part of the summer has panned out. He’s managed to address some problem areas within the squad as he looks to get Rangers in the best position to challenge Celtic next season.

In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
