Troyes table official transfer bid for Bright Osayi-Samuel as Rangers open talks with Fenerbahce

Ligue 1 club Troyes have tabled an official bid for Fenerbahce ace Bright Osayi-Samuel, with Rangers also holding talks for the player according to a report.

The Nigerian international has been linked with a move to Ibrox with some reports suggesting the club have already tabled a £9m bid for the wing-back who can also play as a winger.

But according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu (9 June), French club Troyes have also entered the race for his signature by tabling a formal bid while Rangers continue to hold talks with the player and Fenerbahce.

“Exclusive: Troyes made an official offer to Fenerbahce for Osayi Samuel,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Rangers also started official contacts for Osayi Samuel.”

Versatile

Michael Beale is known to like players who can play in several positions to a high level and Osayi Samuel is definitely someone who ticks that box.

Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz currently occupy the left-back position, while Dujon Sterling has come in this summer already to compete with James Tavernier at right-back.

Out wide the club have plenty of options too, but the 25-year-old would be able to offer cover on both flanks and further up the pitch too which would be a great addition.

With several attacking players leaving at the end of their contracts and more expected to leave over the course of the summer, there could be space for him to come in.

If that £9m bid is genuine however it would imply that the club see him as a starter, as he would become the second most expensive signing in the club’s history and that makes us take the story with a pinch of salt.

In other Rangers news, £3m+ deal could be next at Ibrox amid new Chris Jack update.
