Rangers transfer news: Condition emerges with £4m Kwado Opoku signing on the cards

Rangers and Celtic will have to match LAFC’s transfer valuation in order to sign Ghanian forward Kwado Opoku, Dominik Schneider exclusively told Ibrox News.

Schneider revealed on Twitter on 8 June that the Hoops and other clubs will battle Gers to the services of the 21-year-old.

However, the MLS outfit are not understood to be under any pressure to cash in on the striker this summer.

Rangers

He said, “They want a fee of around £4million to sell him and will only sell at that price. LAFC have an option to extend for one more year. If they don’t get an acceptable offer, they don’t have pressure to sell.”

Tough one

There are Celtic and other clubs keen on signing him and LAFC are well prepared for transfer interest in the 21-year-old.

They are in a position to quote their valuation and sit back to see which clubs are the ones making inroads into signing him.

Usually, clubs get desperate but they’re aware that he’s talented and will only get better with time so it makes a lot of sense to let this one play out.

Rangers

Rangers do need a striker and this one does seem complicated and also not something that they should be risking, at this moment.

They need a proven striker, preferably in Europe’s top five leagues and Opoku is not that so they must steer clear of him.

It remains to be seen who Michael Beale has on his mind as he’ll certainly want someone to replace the departing Alfredo Morelos.

In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
