Rangers make major breakthrough as Cyriel Dessers compromise reached
Rangers have made a “major” breakthrough in their pursuit of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, according to The Scottish Sun.
The Serie A side were initially holding out for £7million for the 28-year-old striker. However, after a breakthrough, the Gere will be shelling out £3.5million plus £900,000 in add-ons (Scottish Sun, 7 June).
Cremonese wanted more than the £7million they paid Genk for him last year but appears a compromise has now been reached as the Light Blues close in on their fourth signing of the summer.

Wow
A serious breakthrough must have been reached in negotiations for Cremonese to nearly half their valuation of the Nigerian striker. It’s an area that needs targeting and it’s essential a new forward is signed before the window slams shut.
Dessers is potentially slightly older than expected, but he’s scored goals for a struggling Serie A side and could well thrive if given the chance in Scotland. With Alfredo Morelos departing and Antonio Colak being told he can follow the Colombian out of Ibrox – at least two more forwards are required.

Antalyaspor forward Haji Wright has been considered. If the board could get a deal over the line for Wright as well as Dessers, then that would be a serious show of intent.
The summer window is about getting back level with Celtic in terms of quality. So far, Rangers have made an excellent start. They can’t stop here. Ange Postecoglou’s departure has left a gaping whole at Parkhead which could through the Hoops off course.
It’s an opportunity the Gers cannot pass up.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been sent an injury warning regarding one of Beale’s new signings.
