Rangers hold strong interest in Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, transfer bid considered
Rangers hold a strong interest in signing Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The 27-year-old has been a revelation since returning from Belgian outfit Beerschot last year, netting 28 goals in all competitions and only finishing behind Kyogo Furuhashi and Kevin van Veen in the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer charts.
After losing frontman Alfredo Morelos, Michael Beale now has his sights set on Shankland, with the Gers now weighing up putting in an offer for the five-cap Scotland international.

The TEAMtalk report states that the forward currently sits very high on their list of striker targets for the summer transfer window.

Great option
If Rangers were looking for a proven goalscorer to spear their attack next season, they don’t need to look much further than Shankland.
Wherever the forward has played, he has scored goals. Between 2017-2019 he netter 50 goals from 61 appearances for Ayr United, before notching up a similarly strong record at Dundee United with 32 strikes from 59 games.
And now that both Morelos and Ryan Kent have left Ibrox, this looks like the perfect option to reignite the Gers’ attack into life.
Despite the season’s end barely being out of sight, Rangers have been extremely effective in their major squad overhaul.
Out have gone the likes of Allan McGregor, Scott Wright and Kent, with Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland all arriving through the Ibrox gates in their stead.
However, if Rangers are to mount an assault on the Scottish Premiership title next season, they need options in attack.
Shankland fits the bill, and Beale should go all-out to get this one over the line.
In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
