Rangers target Jose Cifuentes bids farewell to Los Angeles FC fans amid transfer speculation

Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes appears to be heading to Rangers as he’s seemingly said his goodbyes to the fans of the MLS outfit.

The American side lost 3-1 on aggregate to Leon over the past few days in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Despite having another game to play on Thursday, 8 June, and the rest of the season in the coming months, Cifuentes, 24, does not appear to be sticking around.

He took to Instagram after the semi-final loss to write, “Give your best, wish for the best and always pray to God for better things. Thank you LAFC family and amazing fans for all the support.”

For someone who wants to stay, this does not seem like a post they would share right in the middle of the season so it’s fair to assume the Colombian’s played his last game for the club.

Daily Record reported on 6 June that following Jack Butland’s arrival, Cifuentes will be the next signing to be announced by the Ibrox outfit.

Chris Jack even wrote for the Herald on the same day that he was expected to jet in for his medical soon.

Rangers

All signs point towards the midfielder being the next signing for Rangers as Michael Beale has gone about his transfer business efficiently this summer.

With Celtic losing their manager and not really making any moves, their cross-town rivals are getting their desired targets over the line.

If the Hoops botch their managerial appointment and Gers get Cifuentes and few more quality players over the line, they may be well positioned to win their 56th league title and reclaim the throne of Scottish football.

A few more additions are needed but the squad appears to be getting built pretty well this summer.

In other Rangers news, work permit issues have now emerged which means that the club may not be able to complete a major signing this summer.
