Rangers given Auston Trusty transfer boost as new Arsenal stance emerges

Rangers must not hesitate in their transfer pursuit of Arsenal defender Auston Trusty after being given a major boost by the Premier League giants.

The centre-back has only been in English football for a year, having been loaned straight to Birmingham City after arriving from the MLS the last summer, but has nevertheless forged a strong reputation in the Championship.

According to a new report from Football London (7 June), Arsenal will allow Trusty to leave on a permanent transfer this summer after his successful spell at St. Andrews, where he picked up the club’s Player of the Season award.

Mikel Arteta is set to overhaul his Gunners squad this summer, and the defender, who is yet to play a single competitive appearance for the Premier League outfit, will be one of the expendable players.

The Daily Mail previously reported (8 May) that the Gers want to sign the 24-year-old this summer, with a £2million figure tipped.

However, the one major issue for Rangers in their transfer pursuit is the American’s desire to play in the Premier League.

Speaking to Birmingham Live last month, he said: “As a player, you want to play with the best, wherever it is. Right now, the Prem is probably the best league in the world, so that is obviously the goal for myself and my future.”

Rangers will have to hope that there is a distinct lack of interest from the English top flight and that the lure of Ibrox will be enough to get this deal over the line.

Beale has already admitted that he is desperate to add to his centre-must quota this summer, with Ben Davies and John Souttar looking a little suspect at points last season.

After the emergence of this new stance by Arsenal, the Gers must act quickly to continue their brilliant transfer window and snap up Trusty’s services.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have made a “significant” seven-figure bid for one European-based striker.
