Work permit issues may see Rangers and Manchester United miss out on Brian Gutierrez

Rangers and Manchester United may reportedly find it hard to sign Brian Gutierrez from Chicago Fire due to the work permit rules.

According to the Daily Mail [5 June], given his lack of international or top European league experience, chances of him getting a work permit are low.

Due to this, clubs like Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Girona are keen on acquiring his services as they will not be facing these kinds of issues.

Archaic system

To think that this system was better a few years ago and it’s “upgraded” to something that’s made it even more archaic.

One would’ve thought that things would’ve gotten easier as time progressed, but it’s become tough for clubs to now sign young talent from overseas leagues.

The route many clubs go is to sign them and then loan them out to European leagues so that they can qualify for a work permit.

Rangers

Hopefully, the governing authorities look into this and decide to make the rules more lenient for clubs to sign uncapped youngsters from North and South American countries.

Rangers shouldn’t miss out on quality young talent just because the UK government has a ridiculous rule in place.

It remains to be seen where the teenager ends up going as there appears to be no shortage of suitors for him, especially in Germany.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
