Rangers and Leeds United in talks for Ibrox friendly this summer
Rangers are said to be in negotiations with Leeds United over a pre-season friendly game at Ibrox next month, according to Chris Jack, writing for the Herald.
The Gers already have lined up fixtures against Newcastle United and Hamburg in preparation for the start to the Scottish Premiership and the Champions League qualifiers, which will commence the competitive season for Michael Beale’s side.
It has been claimed that talks are ongoing with Leeds with a date already pencilled in, in addition to a pre-season training camp in Germany that will precede the games at Ibrox.

The update was provided by Jack, with Rangers set to return to training at the club’s Auchenhowie base at the end of this month.
“Rangers and Leeds United could be set to roll back the years and rekindle their Battle of Britain showdown with a blockbuster Ibrox friendly this summer,” he said.
“Rangers will return to action at Auchenhowie in the coming weeks before heading to Germany for a training camp as Beale puts his players and his summer recruits through their paces.
“Leeds have now been pencilled in to provide the opposition on Wednesday, July 26 and negotiations are ongoing as Rangers seek to firm up their plans before the competitive action begins at home and abroad next term.”

Ramped up
Plans for the pre-season period are now firming up, as the pieces are put together to provide the base for Beale to plot Rangers’ journey back to the top of Scottish football.
He will take his squad to the same German training camp that he visited with QPR last year, with a game against Hoffenheim in the offing, as well as a couple of other fixtures against lesser opponents.
Once the hard work gets underway, the preparations will be ramped up with a string of games back at home.
Newcastle visit on 18 July, ahead of HSV on 22 July, with Leeds proposed to fulfil the next available slot.
The weekend of 29 July would represent Rangers’ final warm-up ahead of the start of the 2023/24 campaign with the Champions League 3rd round qualifiers starting on 8/9 August, a matter of days after the new Premiership season gets underway on 5/6 August.
