Michael Beale impresses Jack Butland as Rangers poised to announce new transfer
Rangers are poised to announce the signing of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland after he was left impressed by Michael Beale, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
The Gers have already had a busy start to their summer transfer rebuild, confirming the departures of five free agents and the signings of Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling from Norwich City and Chelsea.
Butland, 30, has spent the season on loan at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag but is set to seal his move to Ibrox.

The Scottish Daily Mail (6 June, back page) wrote: “Crystal Palace goalkeeper Butland, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United, is understood to have agreed a four-year contract after being impressed by manager Michael Beale’s desire to have him at Ibrox.”

Great move
Rangers aren’t mucking about this summer, and Butland looks the perfect fit to be a success at Ibrox.
After the departure of Allan McGregor at the end of last season and Robbie McCrorie now being left as the only realistic number one, a goalkeeper is desperately needed for the Gers moving forward.
And Butland ticks a lot of boxes, considering his wealth of experience and game-changing ability.
The England international hasn’t played a whole lot of football over the last two seasons but looks to be in a very similar situation to Joe Hart before he moved to Celtic in 2021, and look how successful that transfer has turned out.
The Gers might have to pluck out some hefty wages for the 30-year-old’s services, but it should be worth it in the long run.
Over the years, Butland has built a reputation on his stunning shot-stopping ability, with former employers Stoke City valuing him as a £30million goalkeeper in 2018. [The Sun]
Rangers have done extremely well to wrap up this deal early doors before any other suitors come sniffing.
In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
