Rangers have made a “significant” seven-figure bid for Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper added that the Gers had an opening bid for the 28-year-old turned down as they look to reinforce in the final third at Ibrox.

Dessers scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, but his Cremonese side were relegated from Serie A.

Striker needed

Rangers manager Michael Beale is desperate to improve several areas of his squad this summer as the club look to close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic.

The Gers were forced to watch on as the Bhoys lifted another treble, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup.

It is not good enough from the Light Blues, who know they need to strengthen in the coming months if they are to have any hope of achieving such success in Scotland.

And one key area that manager Beale will definitely target in the upcoming transfer window is in attack, namely due to the fact that both Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos have both left the club, with Malik Tillman returning to Bayern Munich following his loan spell.

Goals are, therefore, needed at Ibrox next season, with Gers boss Beale seemingly keen to get deals over the line as soon as possible.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have been sent an injury warning regarding one of Beale’s new signings.
