Michael Beale sack verdict emerges at Rangers with Ange Postecoglou exit on cards at Celtic

David McCarthy has claimed that Rangers manager Michael Beale will be sacked if he doesn’t end Celtic’s dominance in the new season, as featured by the Daily Record.

With a mass rebuild of the squad underway at Ibrox, the expectation is that Beale’s side will go the distance in the new campaign, to challenge for the title after two seasons of falling way short.

The verdict on the manager’s position was delivered over the question of Rangers’ credentials to end Celtic’s stranglehold after they landed the treble on Saturday, although Ange Postecoglou is now set to go to Spurs.

It was McCarthy of the Daily Record who stated that the Gers boss will pay the price if he doesn’t return the club to the top of Scottish football.

“If they don’t, Michael Beale is unlikely to be there at the end of it,” he said.

“So much could depend on Ange Postecoglou still being in a job at Celtic. If he is, there’s no doubt Rangers’ job is going to be much more difficult.”

Reset

With Postecoglou set to swap the east end of Glasgow for north London, a new challenge will be on the horizon.

Beale showed that he could pose problems to our rivals, but too often the difference was a matter of quality. That gap needs to be filled, regardless of who is in the opposite dugout.

However, with a reset on the cards at Parkhead, the significant upheaval could work in Rangers’ favour. Any new manager will need to start afresh with his methods and ideas whilst, at Ibrox, it will be more about momentum and introducing new faces into the existing system.

Postecoglou has done a very good job across the city but their team is moulded around him. If he goes, they lose a lot of what makes them tick.

That is a positive but the need to deliver is paramount. First and foremost, next season will be about what Rangers do and if the outcome is another poor one, the manager will feel the heat.
