The Scottish side certainly need attacking talent following the exit of Alfredo Morelos, who has left Ibrox following the expiry of his Gers contract.
Dessers meanwhile has just been relegated from Serie A with Cremonese, meaning Rangers could find themselves paying much less than they normally would have for the Nigeria international.
The player really has had a rollercoaster career so far, with Dessers playing for eight clubs over the past decade. For whatever reason, he simply hasn’t stayed in one place for very long.
It really is a remarkable record, one that would perhaps worry Rangers fans given his inability thus far to maintain a long-term home.
But the positive is that he has scored goals wherever he has been, with Dessers boasting experience in leagues such as the Eredivisie, Belgian Pro League and of course Italy’s top flight.
Given Cremonese’s relegation from Serie A this season, it seems that the striker will be on the move yet again this summer, with the Belgian-born forward highly unlikely to be playing second-tier football.
But perhaps he could find a permanent home at Ibrox, one where he could become a hero if he is the man to fire the Gers to the league title next season.
