Rangers transfer news as John Lundstram and Borna Barisic decisions soon

Rangers are soon to make a decision on the futures of Borna Barisic and John Lundstram as they enter the last year of their contracts at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.

Both players have proven key performers for Michael Beale this season, making 67 Scottish Premiership games between them.

With Rangers set to undergo a massive revamp of the squad at Ibrox, Beale will need to make a decision on whether some of his more experienced stars still have a future at Ibrox, including both Barisic and Lundstram.

According to the Daily Record [3 June], the Gers must soon make a decision on their futures, with Jose Cifuentes and Jack Butland close to joining.

“The likes of Glen Kamara face uncertain futures, while decisions must be made on John Lundstram and Borna Barisic as they approach the final year of their contracts”, the report writes.

Transformation

The Rangers transformation for the 2023/24 campaign is already taking shape at Ibrox, following the confirmed free transfers of Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling, while Butland looks set to follow them through the Ibrox doors.

And there are certainly more transfer irons in the fire as Beale is desperate for more quality in the squad However, the outgoings will be just as important with certain Gers players potentially not having a place in Beale’s thinking for next season, including Kamara.

Barisic and Lundstram are both likely to remain key parts of the Rangers squad next season, but it remains uncertain whether they will be guaranteed starters again, which means Beale has some crucial decisions to make.

If they aren’t going to be certain starters, then handing out long-term contracts may not be the ideal direction to go. Both players must be given short-term deals at least, even if the Gers fail to secure their targets for next season.

Barisic and Lundstram have proven crucial and stellar servants to the cause at Ibrox, but it’s clear the club are heading in a totally different direction now and both players will certainly need to think about their own futures as much as Rangers as a club do.

In other Rangers news, another player could be on his way to Turkey after an official Ibrox announcement.
