Rangers scouts draw up reports of Atalanta striker Sam Lammers amid potential transfer pursuit

Rangers scouts have reportedly drawn up reports of Atalanta striker Sam Lammers ahead of a potential transfer pursuit this summer.

According to Football Scotland [3 June], it is believed that they may have to battle Heerenveen for the services of the 26-year-old Dutch forward.

Gers are in the market to sign a number nine as Alfredo Morelos will be leaving the club once his contract expires.

Not ideal

Lammers has spent the past few seasons on loan at different clubs and has failed to make an impression anywhere.

His spells at Sampdoria, Frankfurt and Empoli have been underwhelming, to say the least, and they do not make good reading for a striker.

Leading the line, the bare minimum for the 26-year-old is to score goals but he’s not scored more than one league goal in each of his last three seasons despite making 48 appearances.

To replace someone like Morelos, they will be looking for a predatory box striker and that’s not what the Dutchman is.

He’s tall and could be a good plan B option, but Antonio Colak’s already proven that he’s capable enough of coming off the bench to score and what Rangers need is a pure goal scorer.

Hopefully, the scouts have not returned with glowing reports and Heerenveen can have the striker as Gers need and deserve better.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
