Glen Kamara already has one foot out of Ibrox door after fresh Rangers transfer news

Glen Kamara may already have one foot out of the door at Rangers, with his first-team position hanging by a thread and several suitors emerging for his services.

TEAMtalk reported that the Finnish international is exploring his options away from the Gers this summer, with no shortage of clubs keen on sealing a deal.

Recently promoted Sheffield United and relegated Southampton both hold an interest in Kamara, while he also has options from France and Italy.

And considering the arrival of Nicolas Raskin in the January transfer window, Ryan Jack’s contract extension and the possibility of Jose Cifuentes joining up with Michael Beale at Ibrox this summer, a departure looks like the best move for all parties involved.

After recovering from an ankle injury, the 27-year-old has found game time hard to come by, amassing just 25 minutes of Scottish Premiership action over the last seven games of the club’s season.

Speaking on Kamara’s future earlier this week, Beale said: “I think Glen is at a stage of his career at 27 where he is either going to be here now for the rest of his career and dig in and have a really strong pre-season, he is either going to be here for a considerable future or we will probably sell him this summer. “For Glen, everything is open really. But I think he needs to look at the competition that’s here in pre-season and decide whether there is going to be enough football for him.”

With Beale indicating that Kamara would play second fiddle next year unless he improves in pre-season, now seems as good a time as any to seal a transfer away from Ibrox.

This will also be the last opportunity for Rangers to cash in on the midfielder, with his contract set to expire in June 2025.

The Gers must ensure they don’t fall into another Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos trap after both attackers were allowed to run down their contracts and are now set to leave the club on free transfers this summer.

With first-team opportunities set to be scarce for Kamara next term and options from English football and the continent emerging, it seems only a matter of time before he leaves Rangers.

In other Rangers news, another player could be on his way to Turkey after an official Ibrox announcement.
