Villarreal have £8.7m bid for Haji Wright rejected after Rangers £7m tabled
Spanish giants Villarreal have had an £8.7m bid for Antalyaspor forward Haji Wright rejected, after Rangers saw their own £7m bid turned down.
The light blues were linked with a move for the USA international, who netted 16 goals this year while playing in Turkey.
But after an initial offer was rejected (11 May), Villarreal have stumped up the money that was initially asked of Rangers but they’ve also had their bid rejected according to a report from BBO Sports (2 June).

“Villarreal has offered Antalyaspor 10 million euros (£8.7m) for Haji Wright, and Glasgow Rangers 7 million pounds,” they wrote.
“Antalyaspor did not accept the offers.”
Move on
Wright is a talented forward at the perfect age to really start entering his peak years and make a difference, but £7m is a huge amount of money for Rangers.
The reported €10m asking price would make Haji the club’s second most expensive signing of all-time, behind only Tore Andre Flo and he simply doesn’t have the reputation or pedigree to be demanding that kind of fee.

Add to that the fact Antalyaspor are clearly playing games after rejecting Villarreal’s offer of that amount, it’s getting to a stage where Rangers simply can’t compete and they should step away now.
A new striker looks likely to be a big part of the summer rebuild, but considering how much Alfredo Morelos cost back in the day and the fact Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe are still at the club, there’s no need to go crazy.
If the right player isn’t available for the right price we shouldn’t spend for the sake of it. That is what this deal would represent if we went through with it.
In other Rangers news, another player could be on his way to Turkey after an official Ibrox announcement.
