Rabbi Matondo done at Rangers as Michael Beale targets Sunderland star Jack Clarke
Rangers have been linked with a move for Sunderland attacker Jack Clarke – and that could be bad news for Rabbi Matondo at Ibrox.
Football League World report on 1 June that the 22-year-old winger is likely to depart the Stadium of Light this summer, with there being a number of clubs interested.
It’s understood the Gers, along with Everton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Wolves are all targeting the Englishman. Clarke has enjoyed an excellent season for Sunderland, helping Tony Mowbray’s side reach the playoffs.

Clarke made a staggering 45 appearances for the Black Cats last season, scoring nine times and registering eleven assists.
He’s clearly ready for a step up and a move north of the border would provide him with a fresh challenge. His dribbling ability and direct running make him the ideal replacement for Ryan Kent. However, if Clarke did move to the Gers, Matondo should be concerned.

The Welshman was a Giovanni van Bronckhorst signing and it’s been an extremely difficult first season for the winger, with just five assists to his name. We were all excepting a lot more from the 22-year-old. Considering Matondo set the Gers back £3million, it’s been a thoroughly underwhelming first season.
At present, there’s a chance for the attacker to make an impression. Kent’s departure has left a gaping hole which needs filling. However, if someone of Clarke’s talent also comes through the door at Ibrox, Matondo could once again be left pondering his next move.
Potentially a loan elsewhere could be an option. He’s contracted to the Gers until 2026 and could develop further. But, at present, things aren’t working out for the jet-heeled winger.
