Ligue 1 transfer mooted for Glen Kamara after Michael Beale admission
Glen Kamara has been tipped to secure a summer switch to France with his stay at Ibrox expected to come to an end, as featured by the Rangers Review.
The Finland international has been out of favour and form since Michael Beale’s return to the club last year and the manager’s comments this week indicated that the player is set to move on.
Kamara joined Rangers from Dundee in 2019 and has repaid the meagre transfer fee many times over. He has played a key role in the club’s recent achievements, from the 2021 title success to last season’s Scottish Cup as well as the run to the Europa League final in Seville.

In the piece by Euan Robertson, Kamara’s impact and the ongoing situation were assessed with the links to France underlined.
“The 27-year-old’s football intelligence and speed of thought remain on another level to opponents and he often shone brightest on the European stage,” he said.
“Performances in the latter rounds of the Europa League last season were of the highest level and Kamara was a virtual ever-present as Rangers won 55.
“With a skillset suited to playing on the continent, a move to France would seem his likeliest destination this summer. A number of Ligue 1 clubs have shown interest previously.”

Refresh
At 27, Kamara should be approaching his peak but he needs to regain his spark and that is most likely to be found away from Ibrox.
The last few years have been very productive in terms of the mutual relationship between player and club but now is the time for a clean break and Beale has effectively confirmed that.
Rangers will sell from a relatively strong position given the reputation that Kamara still has, as well as having two years remaining on his current deal at the club.
It’s a pity that the fee for the midfielder won’t be as high as could have been attained this time last year, but a few million should still be secured.
A move to France and a more technical style ticks a lot of boxes, but wherever he goes, Kamara is more than capable of making an impact in a top European league.
