Ben Davies ‘unlikely to leave’ Rangers this summer as Championship clubs circle
Stoke City and other Championship clubs are interested in signing Ben Davies, but he is unlikely to leave Rangers this summer report Football Scotland (2 June).
The central defender signed from Liverpool in a £4m deal last summer to help replace Calvin Bassey and had a solid first campaign at Ibrox alongside Connor Goldson.
And while there is interest from some clubs down south to take him back to England, he is said to be happy in Glasgow and isn’t interested in an exit during the summer.

“There has been speculation about the defender’s future but Football Scotland understands he’s unlikely to leave this summer,” they wrote.
“Stoke City are among other Championship clubs who have been linked with an interest in the centre-half.
“As we understand it the player is currently not interested in a departure as he has played more often than not under Beale and is a high-earner in Glasgow.”
Sensible
The summer window is going to be absolutely hectic at Ibrox and there are plenty of areas that need addressing with the current squad.
You can certainly argue that centre-back is one of those areas, with Leon King not established and both Goldson and John Souttar suffering with lengthy injuries at different points.

So while it’s still possible that a new defender may join in the window for Beale, letting another one go on top of Filip Helander just seems to be pushing the boat out a bit too far.
Davies is a solid option to have in the squad even if you don’t see him as a long-term option and starter, and during a summer of transition and change it’s important to keep some sort of familiarity.
After just one season it would be too soon to cut ties, unless a mind-boggling offer came in that saw us turn a profit and be able to replace him instantly.
In other Rangers news, this midfielder “will join” before the 2023/24 season.
