Rangers advancing in move for Manchester United goalkeeper Jack Butland – Fabrizio Romano
Rangers are closing in on the signing of Jack Butland on a free transfer after negotiations advanced over a deal according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gers have been linked with a move for the former England international as a replacement for the legendary Allan McGregor, with his contracts at Crystal Palace and Manchester United set to expire.
And according to the transfer guru himself, negotiations have been advancing and a deal is “getting closer” for the Ibrox club to secure their third signing of the summer after confirmation of deals for Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.

“Rangers are advancing in negotiations to sign Jack Butland as new goalkeeper on free transfer from Manchester United, deal getting closer,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (1 June).
Excellent
The club are moving swiftly in the transfer window and we’re seeing Michael Beale’s promises for the summer coming to fruition early on too.
Butland is an international goalkeeper but he has struggled for regular game time in recent years, and needs a new kickstart to get back on track.

Rangers is the perfect place for him to do that, and he would represent a big upgrade on Robby McCrorie and Jon McLaughlin in the goalkeeper department, despite McCrorie’s good performances at the back-end of the season.
With a deal edging closer, that will mean a lot of the new squad is starting to take shape after Beale admitted he wants big changes and lots of deals to happen this summer to get back on track and chase down Celtic.
Butland is close to becoming a Rangers ace and regular starter, and fans can be excited about the future at the club because it seems as though the boss is getting what he wants and feels is needed.
In other Rangers news, the boss has admitted one player is likely to leave this summer.
