Andy Goldstein shares Rangers and Celtic verdict live on talkSPORT as Ange Postecoglou exit talk emerges
Andy Goldstein believes a manager is “likely” to win a trophy at either Rangers or Celtic given how they are the two “big hitters” in Scotland.
His comments come as Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou emerges as the preferred candidate for the vacant Tottenham job [Sky Sports].
Ryan Mason was in the Tottenham dugout on an interim basis after the sacking of Antonio Conte in March.
“No disrespect, but there are two big hitters now in Scotland; Rangers and Celtic,” Goldstein said live on talkSPORT.
“So if you go to one [as a manager], you’re more likely to win something.”
Big two clear
It may not be easy for fans of other Scottish Premiership clubs to admit, but of course there is a “big two” in Scottish football, with Rangers and Celtic constantly battling it out for the major trophies.
The two giants are always at each other’s throats, with the latter coming on top this time around, with a treble on the cards for Postecoglou’s men.
They can clinch that treble if they defeat Inverness in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday (3 June), having already lifted the Scottish Premiership and League Cup trophies earlier this season.
That should serve as a warning to Rangers and manager Michael Beale, with the club in desperate need of improvement in various areas in order to close the gap on their fierce rivals.
The likes of Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian meanwhile have often put up a fight against the two so-called big hitters, but it hasn’t been enough to topple either of the two from the very top of the Scottish Premiership.
