Scott Allan raves about Rangers ace Fashion Sakala live on BBC Sportscene after victory at St Mirren
Fashion Sakala was “outstanding” for Rangers and without him they might have struggled to beat St Mirren in the 3-0 victory that ended the season, according to Scott Allan.
The Light Blues forward scored either side of half time to set Michael Beale’s side on their way to a final three points of the season, cutting in from the left hand side both times to find the net.
His direct running was no match for the home defence in Paisley and Allan believes the Zambian has been on of the best players for Rangers this season.

Speaking live on BBC Sportscene on Saturday night (27 May, 8.21pm) Allan said: “I think it’s just how direct he is, is how he gets the opportunities.
“I know he does frustrate a lot of the Rangers fans, but I think he’s one of the players if you have him in your team you do love to have him.
“He’s been one of Rangers’ best performers throughout the season in terms of chipping in with goals and assists, and like today without that pace Rangers might have struggled to break St Mirren down, so he was definitely outstanding today.”
Sign off
It was very much the best of Sakala on show against St Mirren and it was a good time to pull it out to leave the memory of what he can do in Michael Beale’s mind over the summer.
There are set to be multiple new attacking arrivals as the manager overhauls his squad, but if the signing from two seasons ago can produce direct performances like the one to end the campaign he has every chance of remaining an important part of the strike force.
When he keeps it simple and plays to his strengths there aren’t many in the SPFL who can stand in his way, but too often at crucial moments he over-complicates matters or lacks composure to put away key chances.

At the same time, there aren’t any current attackers who have been immune from criticism, and aside from exit-bound Ryan Kent it it hard to name a more dynamic Rangers player.
He can certainly improve still and nail down better consistency, but Beale has used him regularly so unless an offer that can’t be refused arrives during the transfer window Sakala should a central figure next season.
His link-up down the left with Ridvan Yilmaz for the first goal was especially encouraging for the future, and more in that vein would be very useful going forward.
In other Rangers news, Beale has revealed some new signings are set to be “signed off” after admitting it has been his busiest time every juggling recruitment with the season.
