Ryan Kent ‘shakes hands’ on three-year deal with Fenerbahce after Rangers exit confirmed

Ryan Kent has shaken hands with Fenerbahce chiefs over a three-year deal worth £1.4m per year to join when his Rangers contract expires, according to Sabah (28 May).

The 26-year-old winger is set to leave Ibrox when his contract expires, after the club confirmed his exit in an official announcement earlier this week.

But despite speculation about his next destination, reports in Turkey now claim that a deal for him to join Fenerbahce is “completed” and he has given his word to the club that he will play there next season.

“In this direction, the yellow-dark blue people, who started the negotiations early, completed their first transfer before June,” they wrote.

“Canary reached an agreement on everything with Ryan Kent, whose contract with Glasgow Rangers expired. Shake hands with the 26-year-old winger until 2026.

“The British star’s salary is expected to be 1.7 million euros (£1.4m) per year.”

Good luck

Kent’s head has definitely been elsewhere this season and it has shown with his performances for Rangers, but there’s no doubting he good he was in his pomp for us.

Now that’s he’s leaving it seems quite clear that it wasn’t really about the money either and more about a fresh challenge.

£28k per week isn’t a huge amount in the world of football today, and it’s certainly an amount at Ibrox that he would have expected to earn if he had agreed new terms.

But it seems that either the club weren’t willing to meet that amount or he just had no interest in staying and wanted to go abroad for a new experience.

If that’s the case we can’t begrudge him of that and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career, unless he comes up against Rangers in which case we hope he has a horrible night.
