Fashion Sakala turns into Arjen Robben at St Mirren – Official Rangers partner

Fashion Sakala resembled Dutch legend Arjen Robben as he scored a pair of goals for Rangers that resembled the former Bayern Munich winger from the opposite flank at St Mirren, according to Heart & Hand.

The Zambian opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he ran onto a lovely Ridvan Yilmaz through-ball down the left, then cut across the penalty area to slide one inside the far post.

He repeated the trick to double the lead early in the second half, doing all the work himself this time as he picked up the ball out wide on the left and drove towards the corner of the box, before again cutting laterally across the edge of the area and firing a shot under Peter Urminsky, who should have done better.

Reacting to the second strike just after the break on Twitter Heart & Hand posted: “Fashion has turned into Arjen Robben.”

Initiative

Sakala often gets criticised for not being consistent or clinical enough but in Paisley he produced exactly the sort of performance fans want to see out of him more often.

Faced with defenders that couldn’t handle his directness on the ball he waltzed across the area onto his right foot for both goals, in a way Robben used to do with his left.

The cliché when it came to the former Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid man was that everyone knew what he was going to do but nobody could do anything to stop it.

Rangers

Too often for Sakala it appears that not even he knows what he is going to do and ends up stopping himself, but it was nothing of the sort against St Mirren, and he was unfortunate to be denied a hat-trick as he was taken off with over 20 minutes left.

Few in the SPFL can match the Rangers wide man when he’s in full flow so if he could just do the obvious, drive forward with purpose, and get a shot on goal with regularity most of his job would be done.

Michael Beale is looking for numerous new arrivals this summer, and especially since Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are on the way out there is a lot of attacking output that needs replacing, but if Sakala can be the difference more often like he was on the final day he could yet be a key part of the future strike force.

In other Rangers news, Andy Walker has accused the Light Blues supporters over a trio of homegrown players after what he claims they’ve told him.
