BBC journalist slams Rangers star Alfredo Morelos for Jekyll-and-Hyde performances
Nick McPheat has slammed Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos for being inconsistent despite putting in a number of stellar performances.
The BBC journalist admits that his box-office antics will see him etch his name in Scottish folklore for a long time.
Morelos will be leaving the club once his contract expires as the club made an official announcement earlier this week.
McPheat wrote in the BBC [26 May], “The Colombia striker will leave Rangers this summer as the Ibrox club’s all-time leading scorer in European competition. He will also depart having received the most red cards in the club’s history.
“Two stats that epitomise a box-office six-year spell served up by the 26-year-old.
“It is difficult to think of another footballer who has polarised opinion more in Scotland in recent times, having flip-flopped between being irreplaceable to unreliable on countless occasions.”

It’s hard to bring up Morelos and not mention how unreliable he’s been for Rangers.
A player so talented never quite showed the Ibrox faithful just how far he could take the club and his mentality was always an issue.
No manager could count on the Colombian to be there when the chips were down and if he were to bail his side out, it was whenever he wanted it.
He was even spotted wearing Everton’s jersey on international duty and it’s pretty clear that he fell out of love with Rangers a while ago.
The regret fans will have is that the club failed to get a transfer fee for the Colombian who will be departing on a free transfer.
He could’ve fetched a decent amount of money had he been sold last summer but the likes of Ross Wilson aren’t known to make the best decisions.
In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
