Galatasaray set for talks with Rangers over signing of Ridvan Yilmaz this summer
Galatasaray want to sign Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz this summer as they need more Turkish players due to Super Lig rules.
Ridvan joined the club last summer in a £4m from Besiktas, but has struggled with injuries and found himself behind Borna Barisic for much of the season in the pecking order.
And according to journalist Metin Karabas speaking to Tivubu Spor (24 May), the Galatasaray manager is very interested in the young left-back and the clubs are set to hold talks about a potential transfer.
“Galatasaray are planning to sign more Turkish players due to the foreign player rules in the Super Lig,” he said, as translated by Turkish-Football.com.
“One player Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has his eye on is Yilmaz. Galatasaray are set for talks with Rangers over Yilmaz.
“Galatasaray winning the league title and qualifying for the Champions League could make the club an attractive destination.”

Rangers have got far too many areas in the squad that need addressing to be letting young players with bundles of potential leave when they could easily do a job in the first-team.
Yilmaz was signed to replace Barisic eventually and while injuries this season have made it really difficult for him to do that straight away, he has shown in recent weeks when given a run in the team that he is good enough.
Going forward he is very strong with lots of good attributes, and defensively he is more than competent enough to slot into the role and become a main-stay next season in Michael Beale’s new-look side.
However with funds clearly needed to be able to boost the budget this summer, a big offer for Yilmaz could potentially persuade the club to move him on and reinvest the cash elsewhere in the squad.
But fans are liking what they are seeing and we’re not in a position where we need to sell him as he’s clearly happy to stick around judging by his recent comments, so we should be keeping him and getting stronger.
In other Rangers news, one target has admitted he is “1000% sure he’ll be leaving his current club this summer.
