Aaron Ramsey sends four-word message as terms agreed on Rangers transfer
Aston Villa youngster Aaron Ramsey has sent his best wishes to Kieran Dowell after it was confirmed on Wednesday that the midfielder has left Norwich City to join Rangers.
The Light Blues have announced on Twitter that Dowell, 25, has agreed terms to join them on a three-year deal on 1 July when his contract at Carrow Road expires.
Ramsey, 20, played alongside Dowell at Norwich during the first half of this season before that loan deal was terminated so he could move to Middlesbrough.
After Dowell took to Instagram to share his delight at joining the Ibrox giants, Ramsey was among those to reply in the comments.
The young midfielder said: “All the best, mate.”
Welcome, Dowell
Dowell should be a decent signing for Rangers.
He’s 25 years old, he’s English, he’s been playing at a good level in England, he’s versatile and he’ll fill an area of the squad that needs reinforcement.
Michael Beale has a lot of work on his hands for this summer due to all of the players that are leaving and the fact there’s no sporting director to help out with the work.
Dowell scored five goals and supplied three assists in 25 Championship appearances for Norwich this season, having failed to play since February due to injury.
That’s a big worry for us because Rangers have had their fair share of injury crocks in recent seasons.
It remains to be seen if the former Everton midfielder’s injury issues continue at Ibrox or not and in truth, there’s never any guarantee as to how a player’s fitness will pan out.
But Rangers need to keep close tabs on Dowell this summer and ease him back into action very slowly because it will have been months since he last kicked a ball in anger when the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season kicks off.
In other Rangers news, Andy Walker was wowed by this player’s performance against Hearts.
