Rangers transfer news: Fashion Sakala, Antonio Colak and Borna Barisic could be sold claims potential new sporting director

Fashion Sakala and Antonio Colak could both be sold by Rangers this summer as part of an Ibrox exodus after free agent departures were announced, says Craig Moore.

The Australian has put himself in the running to be the new sporting director at Ibrox, and is currently in contact with new CEO James Bisgrove [Barry Anderson, 23 May] regarding a potential return to the club.

But he has already cast an eye over the current squad and had his say on who may be joining the likes of Scott Arfield and Ryan Kent in leaving this summer, after the club announced five upcoming departures, with Borna Barisic also a candidate to leave if an offer arrives in the former Gers defender’s view.

Speaking on Go Radio’s Football Show, as per the Daily Record, said of possible exits: “Antonio Colak, if money came in for Fashion Sakala. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Borna Barisic move on if the opportunity came along.

“There are five players we know about that Rangers have come out and announced [as leaving]. You are going to see 10-12 players come through the door for the start of next season.”

Nothing off the table

There aren’t likely to be many in the Light Blues squad who are completely untouchable if there is a market out there for them considering the fortunes of this season.

January arrivals Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin are obviously part of Michael Beale’s plan to get back to Celtic so they are surely safe.

It is hard to see James Tavernier going anywhere, and Connor Goldson has proven he is key in defence as much by how things go in his absence as what he does when he is there.

John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz are likely ear-marked to stay based on encouraging signs in recent weeks, but if a club came in with a decent amount of money for either it wouldn’t be a shock if Beale could be convinced.

The manager needs so many new arrivals, especially with five departing on free transfers and Malik Tillman’s loan having come to an end, that a certain amount of wheeling and dealing is inevitable.

So bringing in cash for players who aren’t absolute certainties to start is something he would have to consider in each case.

And if Moore is to come back in at Ibrox in some sort of official capacity then he would likely have a direct involvement in some of these matters, so his words on the outside as a pundit take on extra significance.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are now looking to land a blow on Celtic with a transfer market hijack.
